The Irish band Snow Patrol burst onto the music scene with their catchy pop-rock melodies and their relevant messages with their album Final Straw. Filled with distorted guitar, powerful drumbeats, and heart-wrenching lyrics, the group stands out from other alternative bands currently on the market and chooses to stay that way.
Like Keane, but not as whiney, and Jimmy Eat World, but less poppy, Snow Patrol blends to create an unobtrusively dynamic album. Singer/Songwriter Gary Lightbody drew inspiration from ruined relationships as well as the horrors of the Iraqi conflict. Unlike many bands of today, Snow Patrol's music doesn't spoon-feed you their messages, so they give you something new to discover every time you listen.
For instance, their first single, Chocolate was aptly named by Lightbody, who suggests that chocolate is "the kind of thing you look at and think, I really shouldn't.- But you can't resist."
With attention-grabbing music and meaningful lyrics, how could anyone resist the cool sounds of Snow Patrol?
